ABOUT ME
From Personal Transformation to Performance Coaching
My path into coaching did not begin in a gym. For nearly 20 years, I worked in hospitality, technology start-ups, and the wine and spirits industry. Like many busy professionals, I spent years prioritising work, travel and long hours while allowing my own health and fitness to slip further into the background.
By my early forties, that lifestyle had caught up with me.
A routine health screening forced me to confront where I was heading and became the catalyst for a major change.
I hired a coach, returned to structured training and began rebuilding my health, strength and confidence.
What started as a personal transformation quickly became something more.
I became fascinated by the process: how training, nutrition, recovery and consistency work together, why some approaches produce results while others do not, and how the right coaching can completely change a person's relationship with fitness.
That interest eventually became a new career.
More Than 10 Years of Coaching Experience
Today, I have more than a decade of experience helping people become stronger, fitter and more capable.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, including busy professionals, older adults, athletes, military personnel, younger trainees and people taking their first serious steps into structured fitness.
Their goals have varied considerably.
Some wanted to lose weight and improve body composition. Others wanted to become stronger, prepare for endurance events, improve athletic performance or simply regain the confidence to train effectively.
What remains consistent is my approach: understand the individual first, then build the training system around them.
My Coaching Philosophy
I do not believe effective coaching is about delivering the hardest possible workout.
It is about identifying what matters most, creating a clear plan and progressing that plan over time.
My coaching places a strong emphasis on:
-
Movement quality
-
Strength and conditioning
-
Athletic performance
-
Body composition
-
Nutrition and recovery
-
Sustainable long-term progress
Training should be challenging, but it should also be purposeful.
Every programme needs to account for the client's goals, current ability, training history, lifestyle and available time. The objective is not simply to make someone tired.
It is to help them improve.
COACH, ATHLETE AND PARENT
I believe strongly in leading by example.
Alongside coaching, I continue to train and compete as a Masters athlete, with experience in Men’s Physique and HYROX, as well as a long-standing background in Muay Thai.
Muay Thai has been an important part of my development as both an athlete and a coach. It reinforced the value of discipline, conditioning, technical development and staying composed under fatigue—qualities that continue to influence how I approach performance training today.
I am also a father of two.
That matters because serious training does not happen in isolation. It has to coexist with work, family responsibilities, changing schedules, recovery demands and the rest of everyday life.
I understand the challenge of trying to train with intent while also being a professional, a parent and a partner. That experience has shaped the way I coach. The goal is not to build a programme that looks perfect on paper. It is to build one that works in the real world.
Continuing to train seriously keeps me connected to the same challenges many of my clients face: balancing strength and conditioning, managing
fatigue, improving performance, maintaining body composition and fitting ambitious training goals around the demands of life.
It also reinforces something I believe strongly:
Fitness should fit into your life. Not the other way around.
Evidence, Technology and EDUCATION
Coaching is a profession that requires constant learning.
I continue to invest in education, professional certifications and performance technology to improve how I assess, programme and monitor training.
Technology can provide valuable information, but data is only useful when it leads to better decisions.
My goal is to combine practical coaching experience with evidence-informed methods, objective performance tracking and an understanding of the person behind the numbers.
Why I Coach
My own experience taught me how much can change when someone has a clear objective, an appropriate plan and the right support.
That is what I try to provide for every client.
I am not interested in quick fixes, generic programmes or short-term motivation.
I want clients to understand what they are doing, why they are doing it and how each stage of training contributes to the larger objective.
The aim is simple:
Become stronger. Become fitter. Perform better.
